A Conversation Between Rachel & His Dad
RACHEL - Good morning, Dad! What's up?
DAD - Good Morning Rachel!
A TELEVISION SHOWING THE UKRAINE - RUSSIA WAR HIGHLIGHTS.
DAD - Do you know what's happening in the world, Rachel?
RACHEL - (pointing towards the television) Is it a war Dad? Why are they fighting? It's written "EMERGENCY UN MEETING." What's UN Dad?
DAD - Oh God! One question at a time dear... (Hahaha) Let me explain to you about the UN first! So Rachel, have you ever been to a club? Typically, you have a purpose or reason for being in the club, and you work with other people to achieve a goal or do something you enjoy. 1) The United Nations (UN) is like a club, except instead of the organization made up of people, it is made up of countries. Specifically, it is made up of 193 member states, which are nations worldwide. Every club needs a headquarters, and the United Nations is headquartered in New York City. 2) Number of members: By the 21st century the United Nations had more than 190 member states. 3) Goal: A) The main goal of the United Nations is world peace. B) The United Nations also works to reduce poverty and suffering and improve people's lives in other ways.
RACHEL - Ohhh!!!! So that's the UN. It's like Mom's Kitty Club!!!
DAD - (Haha) That's right dear but, the UN has many essential objectives. Do you know about the Sustainable Development Goals?
RACHEL - No, Dad! Please explain it to me.
THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS ARE:-
DAD - Did you get it?
RACHEL - Yes Dad!!!!
DAD - Then, why don't we play a game, Rachel!! I'll show you some pictures printed in old newspapers, and books, and you do a Picture Composition on it!
RACHEL - That's interesting, Dad! Show me a few pictures, and I will let you know about the goal!

RACHEL - So, Goal 2 of the 2023 Sustainable Development Agenda seeks to end hunger and all forms of malnutrition and double agricultural productivity in the next 15 years. THE CHALLENGE IS: Globally, the proportion of undernourished people in developing regions has fallen by almost half since 1990, from 23.3% in 1990 - 1992 to 12.9% in 2014 - 2016. As per FAO estimates, 2017 saw the third consecutive rise in world hunger, with the absolute number of undernourished people facing chronic food deprivation, increasing to 120 million. One in every 9 people in the world is undernourished. Asia's decreasing trend in undernourishment seems to be slowing down significantly, with 515 million deemed undernourished in 2017. Unless we profoundly rethink global food and agricultural systems, it is estimated that the number of hungry people worldwide will drastically climb by 2050. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? Working to improve food and agriculture can have a substantial impact on the attainment of the other 16 Sustainable Development Goals, as it can help combat climate change, bolster economic growth and contribute to peace and stability in societies around the world. HOW CAN WE ADDRESS THIS? Goal 2 of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda seeks to end hunger and all forms of malnutrition, and double agriculture productivity in the next 15 years. Ensuring this sustainable excess to nutritious food universally will require sustainable food production and agricultural practices. TARGET - 1 By, 2023 end hunger and ensure access by all people, in particular, the poor and people in vulnerable situations, including infants, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round. TARGET - 2 By 2030, end all forms of malnutrition, including achieving, by 2025, the internationally agreed targets on stunting and wasting in children under 5 years of age, and address the nutritional needs of adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women and older persons. And, many more!!! So, that's all SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 2 represents!
DAD - Excellent!
