SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
What Is UN??
UN is basically like a club but instead of an organization made up of people, it is made up of 193 countries & nations worldwide.
It is headquartered in New York City. Its main motive is to bring world peace. It helps improve the way people live and has many prominent objectives called the Sustainable Development Goals.
Sustainable Development Goals
Eradicating Hunger
The UN aims at eradicating hunger by 2030. This program of the UN is also known as the 2nd aim of sustainability also known as 'Zero Hunger'. Even after many efforts from the UN, they are still not on track to reaching Zero Hunger by 2030. Studies say that by 2030 the number of undernourished people will surpass 890 million. Because of man-made conflicts, 135 million people suffer from hunger.
Data of Undernourished People Estimated by FAO
Globally the proportion of undernourished people in developing regions has fallen by almost half, since 1990, from 23.3% in 1990 - 1992 to 12.9% in 2014 - 2016. FAO estimates that 2017 saw the third consecutive rise in world hunger, with the absolute number of undernourished people. One in every nine people in the world is undernourished.
What Can We Do to Help the UN??
- If there is a wedding and a lot of food is left then we should donate it to the poor people and not just throw it in the dustbin and so it becomes waste.
- We should also bring awareness about undernourished people so that more and more people understand the importance of not wasting food.
- Donations of money to the UN.
Thank you!!!
