Raksha Bandhan, the festival celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters, was marked with great enthusiasm this year. The day began with sisters tying the sacred thread, or "Rakhi," on their brothers' wrists, symbolizing love, protection, and mutual respect. In return, brothers gave gifts, promising to protect and support their sisters throughout their lives. 


Families gathered for the occasion, sharing sweets, exchanging laughter, and reminiscing childhood memories. The vibrant atmosphere, filled with joy and togetherness, reflected the deep-rooted cultural significance of Raksha Bandhan in strengthening familial bonds.


The story of Raksha Bandhan was narrated to the students to help them understand the significance of this cherished festival. The teacher explained that Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of the bond between brothers and sisters, rooted in Indian culture and traditions.


She shared the ancient tale of Rani Karnavati and Emperor Humayun. Rani Karnavati, the queen of Mewar, sent a Rakhi to Emperor Humayun, seeking his help when her kingdom was threatened. Touched by the gesture, Humayun immediately marched his troops to protect her, even though they were not related by blood. This story highlighted the essence of Raksha Bandhan, where the Rakhi symbolizes not just a sibling bond, but also the responsibility to protect and care for one another.


The teacher also narrated modern-day stories where sisters tie Rakhis to their brothers, asking them to stand by them through thick and thin, and in some instances, sisters tie Rakhis to each other, symbolizing mutual protection and support.


The students were captivated by these stories, which deepened their understanding of the festival. They learned that Raksha Bandhan is not just about the ritual of tying a thread, but about the enduring love, trust, and commitment that siblings share. The lesson ended with students discussing how they could show appreciation and care for their siblings beyond the festival day, fostering stronger relationships within their families.
